Dear Sports Media: The Bills Are 2-0 and Possibly Deserving of Some of Your Attention.

Dear National Sports Media,

This morning, while sipping my delicious Brighton Cafe iced coffee (which is more like coffee tinged sugar cream, which is just the way I like it), I snagged a look at ESPN.com. I glanced through the Boston.com sports headlines. I read through my numerous NFL blogs on Google Reader. I was left with one glaring question:

Did the Buffalo Bills play a game yesterday? Were they maybe the game that got postponed? Continue reading

If He Coached Steve Young, He’s Good Enough For Me

Updated at the end of the post later in the day on 1/16/08: Quick post because I’m thrown off by going to a hockey game tonight (because my body now thinks its the weekend, and wants to stay up late, but alas, it’s only Tuesday): Norm Chow was fired as offensive coordinator of the Titans today, proving that he can only successfully work with one quarterback with the last name of Young in his lifetime. For those of you unfamiliar, Chow is one in a line of NFL coaches with time served at the one and only Brigham Young University. Other coaches with BYU roots include Andy Reid and Mike Holmgren (further proof that they are either twins or one and the same person.) Continue reading

Welcome to my blog’s new home…

I will be continuing my four year old blog, …On Being a Sports Girl, on WordPress. I have been able to migrate the majority, if not all, of my older entries (from 2003-on) onto this host as well.

I will be continuously making changes to this main page, so do not be surprised if the physical look of this site changes several times in the next few days.

And yes, all of this work on the site means I’ll be blogging more often. I hope.

Let Me Do My “I’m Right” Dance

Call me lazy, convict me of a lack of creativity. I keep trying to write blog entries on a regular basis, but I get home from work late and exhausted, thus no energy to write an entry. But I know I have to continue to write, no matter what, if I ever want to be a good blogger. So here I am, with my weekly links, which is the blogging equivalent of a sitcom’s clip show. I promise I’ll write something of substance soon.

The Departure Factor is a real theory–or at least Boston University men’s hockey coach Jack Parker thinks so. Coach Parker made his team pretend their home playoff game against the University of Vermont was an away game by switching pre-game rituals, locker rooms, and the tunnel the team entered the ice from. It worked, and the Terriers ended up taking the series. By the way, after Saturday evening’s game, I am more convinced than ever that college hockey may be the best sport ever created. I dragged myself out of bed, laryngitis and all, to see this game, and was I glad I did. Continue reading

Sports Blogs That Are Better Than My Own–Or At Least Updated More Often

Here is my list of my favorite sports-related blogs and columns. Since I have seriously slipped in updating this blog, I give you this list of sports news and opinion so that you can get your fill from somewhere. Plus, they all write much better than I do.
