In both my personal and professional lives, I fully understand the power of social media.

Before I started engaging others via social media, I was a frustrated sports blogger and a college administrator who couldn’t get students to open mass emails from my boss. Effectively using social media has helped my office create a vibrant online community for students and leapfrogged my occasional sports blogging into a regular freelance writing career.

Social media has helped me transform from a introvert to an extrovert, from the shy girl in the corner to a woman not afraid to share her personality with others. If social media was able to help me make that improvement, what could it do for you, your brand, organization or business?

Experience

I manage social media (Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Instagram, YouTube and other services) for a large student affairs division at a major university. That includes maintaining Facebook pages, interacting with students on Twitter, maintaining social media during times of institutional and local crisis, and running contests and giveaways. I also manage Twitter for the Hockey on Campus radio show on SiriusXM during college hockey season. Personally, I have used several of the most popular social media channels for several years.

Services

I am available for freelance work in social media. I can help you:

– Create a manageable social media strategy you can do yourself. Let’s make a plan for your organization or brand to effectively use social media. Then I’ll create a step-by-step process for you or someone in your organization to manage it without getting social media hungover.

– Venture into community curation. Do you have social media accounts with no friends, likes or followers? I can help you create an active community that will have your followers speaking with you about the good, the bad and the fun. It’s not all throwing contests and prizes at them – it’s about giving them a voice and being present in community conversations.

– Explore new social media channels for your company to engage on. Twitter and Facebook are just the tip of the iceberg. There are sports specific channels, beer specific channels, travel specific channels…the list continues. We can see if you might be best served by enhancing your Twitter and Facebook outreach with a strategy in another social media channel.

– Manage social media for you. You just don’t have time for this stuff. You’ve got clients to meet, products to make and mouths to feed. I understand. Whether you don’t like it or don’t have time for it, social media isn’t for everyone. I can manage your social media for you, as long as you promise me you will keep the lines of communication open. (I can’t be effective if I don’t know what is going on with your company.)

– Present on a social media topic. I’ve presented on crisis management in social media, how sports bloggers should promote themselves via social media and copyright in social media and blogging.

– Write a useful blog. You’ve been told time and time again that you need to blog, but you’ve got an unshakable case of writer’s block. I can write for you, be it as myself or as a ghostwriter for you.
